Lara Croft ‘Reborn’ Advert

Lara Croft 'Reborn'

With the highly acclaimed new Tomb Raider game coming out on March 5th, a new advertisement trailer was just recently released to promote the game. The trailer for the game shows a mix between real life people and the gameplay graphics, which is full of action packed scenes, and some gore. The game is rated at pegi 18.

The origin story shows Lara as more of an academic than  an adventurer, but when she is ship-wrecked on an island with secret mysteries and deadly cultists, she has no choice but to learn how to survive. Lara receives a lot of punishment early in the game, but rather than crumbling under the weight of the physical and emotional struggle she faces, she emerges from them a stronger person. It is empowering to witness her journey from the fearful individual person she is from when she first arrives, to the confident survivor she becomes. As an introduction to the legend that is Lara Croft, this game certainly will not disappoint.

Lara Croft 'Reborn'

Back in October I actually played the demo version of the game at London MCM Expo, and if the graphics and gameplay are just as amazing as they were back then, this game is certainly one that is worth a play for any gamers out there. The demo version I played was actually the start of the story where she crash landed on the island, and from that you then begin to develop with her and take on perilous tasks as well as upgrading her survivability. The new Lara Croft game is really where her story began and how she became what she is today.

Though enough of talking about game, what is interesting to watch is the trailer Square Enix released for the game. Watch it below:

Reviewing Lara Croft Reborn Trailer:

Using the different people, a.k.a the game players, to do a combined voice over really only works because of how the trailer cuts between the different people and the scenes from the game., With the dim-lit, black and white camera scenes, the trailer really puts into perspective the grim and mysterious nature of the game. At the same time though, it evokes a sense of wanting to be a part of the survivors, and turning Lara Croft’s fearful nature into a strong and confident one. The camera work between real life people and the 3D graphics works really well and for that I give it a 5/5.

Message: 5/5

The message of the trailer is very simple, become a survivor by playing the game. With the actors describing Lara Croft, it also delivers the message that the Lara Croft we know today wasn’t always that way, and in order to make her the way she is today, we need to play the game. 5/5.

Pace: 5/5

The trailer is very well paced and delivers a strong and impacting message which makes the trailer enjoyable to watch. 5/5

Sound: 4/5

The sound between the background music and the voice overs is really well blended. However there are cases where the strength and impact between each of the different voices varies and could have been just a little bit better to make the sound perfect. For that I give it a 4/5.

Overall: 4.75/5
